The History
Carlos E Tenorio is a multifaceted and multi-instrumentalist musician born and raised in Venezuela, whose composition style range from genres such as heavy and prog metal, experimental rock to music for classical guitar and string ensemble. His passion for music was inculcated by his father in an early age, a passion that grew up to become an important part of his life. Carlos began his musical journey, learning the traditional Venezuelan music instruments first and then the electric guitar. At the age of 16, he founded his first rock band, Lado Oscuro, with two friends. This band will become his school in which he developed his own guitar sound, driven mostly by experimentation and constant search for improvement.
This constant search for improvement, led him to start learning classical guitar by himself guided by his father. Since then, he has shared his passion for both classical and electric guitar. Despite the fact that he never studied music, Carlos has composed music for the rock bands of which he was part, for string ensemble and for classical guitar.
Among his most significant musical career achievements, the following are the most noteworthy: In 2008, Ensamble Strauss (Venezuela), recorded a string ensemble arrangement of his classical guitar work, Cronos. In 2012, Carlos saw released in Mexico another of his compositions for classical guitar "Joropeando" by maestro José Miguel Suárez. Additionally, between 2013 and 2015, three of his compositions for guitar “En Mis Sueños”, “Joropeando” and “Namarië” were played in
the Goddard College Community Radio 91.1 FM Plainfield, Vermont, USA.
Carlos has had the privilege to study with world-class musicians such as: mtro. Sir Augusto Ramirez, Prof. Eliecer Ortiz and Prof. Raul Landaeta (Venezuela), Prof. Dan Sumner (USA). In addition, Carlos has participated in numerous classical guitar master classes with some of the top guitarists and composers in the world including: Dr. Cain Budds (USA), José L. Lara and mtro. Luis Quintero (Venezuela), mtro. Senio Diaz and mtro. Flavio Sala (Italy), mtro. Roland Dyens (France), mtro. Jose Suarez, Igor Avila and Hector Vudoyra (Mexico). As well as, electric guitar master classes and clinics with: Stan Smith, Felix Martin and Joe Satriani (USA) and Orlando Rivera (Venezuela).
Since 2013, Carlos is working in the Guitar’s Reasoned Technique, which is based on the independence of the thumbs and the usage of a guitar’s ergonomic neck, under the supervision of Prof. Frankue Martinez (Venezuela- Spain).
Carlos Tenorio plays a seven strings custom-made classical guitar made by Luthier Marco Peña (Venezuela).
